Three Decades of Change: Plan International Bangladesh’s Journey Towards Women & Youth Empowerment
Plan International Bangladesh celebrated a momentous milestone on Thursday, marking 30 years of empowering girls and youth nationwide. The event, held at the prestigious Pan Pacific Sonargaon Grand Ballroom, brought together esteemed dignitaries and representatives from various sectors, including State Minister Simeen Hossain Rimi, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission Kamal Uddin Ahmed, and Executive Director of CAMPE Rasheda K Chowdhury.
Over the past three decades, Plan International Bangladesh has undergone a remarkable evolution, transitioning from a simple service provider to a passionate advocate for girls’ rights. Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Education and Cultural Affairs, emphasised the pivotal role organisations play in catalysing social change, praising Plan International Bangladesh’s consistent dedication to this principle.
The celebration didn’t just look back on past accomplishments; it also shed light on current obstacles, particularly the widespread issue of Child, Early & Forced Marriage. Bhagyashri Dengle, Regional Director- Asia Regional Office, emphasised the urgent need to address this problem, while Kabita Bose, Country Director, reaffirmed the organisation’s strong commitment to promoting equality and eliminating discrimination at all levels.
A highlight of the event was a panel discussion, where notable speakers discussed important topics like climate change, girls’ empowerment, and education. These discussions reaffirmed Plan International Bangladesh’s commitment to promoting sustainable development and helping every girl and youth reach their full potential.
The celebration also highlighted Plan International Bangladesh’s long-lasting partnerships with communities across the country.
